Our
brother Urban DeCleene was born in
Rockland
,
Wisconsin
in 1895. After graduating from
St.
Norbert High, he joined the Order after a year at the college, in 1915.
He was solemnly professed in 1920, ordained that year, and became the
assistant at
St. John’s
in Essexville.
In
1925, he was appointed pastor in Valier,
Montana
. From 1932 until 1936, he was
master of novices. After a year at
Southeast Catholic, he became pastor of St. William in
Shelby,
Montana
in 1938, then pastor in
Lincoln
,
Wisconsin
in 1947.
In
1948, Urban was made prior and the master of brothers, with a chaplaincy at
Hickory Grove Sanatorium. His special hobby during this time was the raising of
bees and collecting honey.
From 1952 until his death on Wednesday,
May 30, 1962, he was pastor of
Our Lady of the Snows in Delwich.
He was 66.
