Our brother
George Feider was born in Dacada, Wisconsin
in 1909, was vested as a novice in 1932, professed in 1934 and ordained in
1939.
In 1937, he joined the faculty at Southeast Catholic, where he taught
German.
When
Daylesford became independent from DePere in 1963, George joined the East, as he
had spent all of his active years there. He spent his entire priestly life
on the faculty of Southeast Catholic / Bishop Neumann High School.
Bowling
was George’s main love. He began
moderating the bowling team in 1943, and in 1951 succeeded in bringing the first
Catholic League and City Championship in bowling to Southeast.
When Bishop Neumann opened, he continued moderating the teams there.
He was much loved by the students, and he loved them too.
George was known for his quick wit and
timeliness. No matter how late he
was up into the night, he was always pacing the corridor of the faculty house
the next morning, waiting for a ride to the 5:30 a.m. convent runs!
For
14 successive summers, George took care of the parish activities at Our Lady of
the Sacred Heart in Hilltown,
Pennsylvania, where he also ministered on weekends during the school year.
Worn
out by his unstoppable pace, George died October 5th, 1982, at the age of 72.
