Our
brother Robert Kelly was born in Philadelphia
in 1929. After graduating from
Southeast Catholic, he joined the Order in 1946 and was solemnly professed in
1951.
Bob
began teaching at St. Norbert High in 1950 and collecting credits from
Villanova
University
during summer sessions from 1951 through 1955.
He was assigned to the faculty of Bishop Neumann in 1954, where he taught
Latin and history and acted as treasurer of the school and the priory until
1978, all he did accurately and efficiently.
In
1979, Bob began working for the Philadelphia
Housing Authority as a Service Manager for in Home Services. From 1983 until
1985, he was a certified addictions counselor at Talbot Place
, in
Hershey
,
PA
and Parkside Lodge in
Moorestown
,
N.J.
Bob
held the office of prior of Daylesford Abbey from 1992 until 1996. With the
division of Daylesford Abbey, Bob was elected the prior de
regimine of Immaculate Conception Priory from 1997 until 2001.
A
heavy smoker all his life, Bob died of cancer of the tongue and mouth on
Wednesday, November
19, 2003. He was 74.
His body lies with the deceased confreres of Bayview
Priory in
Wilmington,
Delaware.
