Our brother
Charles "Ace" Kenny was born in Oshkosh
in 1902. After graduating from
St.
Norbert High and the college, he joined the Order in 1924.
Ace
began teaching in the high school in 1926, and in 1928
received a University of Wisconsin Library Certificate, becoming librarian at
St. Norbert High in 1928, and at the college
from 1932 to 1944.
During
the ‘40’s through the ‘60’s, Ace assisted in the Order’s parishes in
Lincoln, Dykesville, Onieda, and Rosiere. He
retired to the abbey in 1968 where he became the librarian.
In his later years he would drive the frats to the college. On one
occasion, at a red light behind another car, he did not realize his car was
creeping forward. He lightly struck the car in front of him and promptly said,
“Did you see that?
He just backed up into me!”
Ace
died on
Wednesday, June 25, 1980 at the age of 77.
