ST. NORBERT ABBEY
DE PERE, WISCONSIN, U.S.A.
Rev. Gerald L. Nolan, O. Praem.
b. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1909 – d. Monday, Oct. 29, 1962

Our brother Gerard Nolan was born in Manawa , Wisconsin in 1909.  While at the college from 1927 until 1930, he spent the summers at the Military Training Camp in Fort Sheridan , Illinois and at Camp McCoy in the National Guard.  After graduating from the college in 1931, he joined the Order and was solemnly professed in 1936.

Jerry was on the original staff of Southeast Catholic in 1934 and was transferred to Archmere in 1936, where in addition to teaching English, was advisor to the “Patio” yearbook from 1938 until 1942, except for 1941, when he took a year off to finish his M.A. at the U.W. Madison.

From 1942 until 1944, Jerry taught at the college and moderated the “Des Peres”, and then returned to Southeast, where he became vice-principal, librarian and house superior until 1948, when he was appointed registrar.  In 1952, he was back teaching at the college and editing the “Annals of St. Joseph ” to which he added in 1956, the chaplaincy at Our Lady of Charity Convent.

In 1960, as pastor of St. Joseph in Oneida , he was chosen by the Seymour Knights of Columbus to be their chaplain.  Jerry died on Monday, October 29, 1962 at the age of 52
