Our brother
Augustine Vande Gevel was born in Son, Holland
in 1885. After coming to the United States, he entered the Order in 1907 and was solemnly professed in 1912.
From 1913 until 1917, he assisted at
St. John’s
in Essexville and in Grand Rapids,
Michigan.
Pastoring
across the states seems to have been Augustine’s lot.
In 1919, he was in Valier, Montana; in ’25, at St. Louis in
Dykesville; in ’29 at St. William in Shelby, Montana; in ’38, in West
Vancouver; in ’43, Sunnyside and Valley, Washington; and in ’46, at
Rosiere on the Belgian Peninsula in Wisconsin.
Augustine
retired in 1951, and sailed for his homeland in Holland, where he died
Saturday, October
27th, at the age of 66.
