Our brother Cletus Wagner was born in Michigan City, Indiana in 1911. After his freshman year at St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin, he was vested in the Order in 1932, professed in 1934 and ordained in 1938.
Having been assigned to Southeast Catholic High School faculty in 1935 to teach Latin, he attended Villanova University summer school sessions, from 1939 until 1942.
Clete was at Archmere during 1942, back at Southeast in ’44, and then to Central Catholic in ’46.
In 1955, he became a member of the faculty of the newly opened Premontre High School.
1958 found him back at Neumann until his death on Sunday, December 5, 1971. He was 60 years old.
Clete was a quiet, introspective, spiritual man, who was deeply loved by the confreres he lived with.
Because of his quiet, reserved manner, he found disciplining students difficult and challenging, but they loved him for who he was.
He was a much sought-after confessor.
