Barlings Abbey, England
. . . THIS MAY TAKE A MOMENT OR TWO . . .
A lonely sentinel from the glory that was Barlings. |
This is a sketch of Barlings done by renown regional artist Samuel Brock in 1726. Mr. Brock sketched over 400 sites in England during his lifeltime. This sketch is unique, however, in that it was enhanced by watercolors. |

There are literally hundreds of stones lying around in the field in the vicinity of the ruins. This was one of the largest, clearly showing from its pattern that it was part of a column, base, or capital structure. | |
