Monasticon Praemonstratense (I, 165)
Approximate modern location: Southeast of Haltern on the Lippe river, in the area around Recklinghausen, Germany.
Elm-Number [See below]: None.
Other Comments: An illustrious Parthenon (Priory) founded by Henry, Duke of Ravensberg. Originally populated by nuns from the duplex abbey of Knechtsteden, who were transferred to this location when the abbey became single. The Parthenon became a diocesan house after 1555, but in 1660 it became reunited with the Order. It was burned terribly in 1790 and not fully reconstructed thereafter. The modified church is now a parish church.
