Other Comments: Originally a Benedictine convent from
the early 12th century, and from the mid 12th century a foundation of our
Order (ca. 1140), with some nuns coming from Stoppenberg. Administered
from Knechtsteden. After the protestant revolution, Cappel became a
prominent hermitage for Lutheran women. Today, the Abbey Church is a
protestant church.
