History:
The establishment was founded in 1915 as the "Jaú Athenaeum," a college level educational institution" In that same year Norbertines from Averbode Abbey began to administer this institution. The college was closed in 1969, and from then on, just the House existed. In 1979 St. Norbert's was elevated to the status of a self- governing Priory, and as of the year 2001, became an Abbey.
