Monasticon Praemonstratense (III, 103)

Approximate modern location: County of Avril, near Briey, northwest of Metz, Dep. Meurthe-et-Moselle, France.  Southeast of Briey, there is a village of Pierrevillers, and just east of that is a Bois de l'Abbaye.

Elm-Number [Notitia infra]: 142*

Other Comments: A famous abbey of the O.S.A. initially, founded in the 11th century.  Under the leadership of Abbot Rudolph (1120-30) the residents transferred to our Order.  This house had a profound effect on the expansion of the Order throughout Lotharingia, and remained faithful to the most humble and sacred tenets of the Rule.
