Elm Number:  285*

History:

West of Krumbach (Schwaben), southeast of Ulm and Weissenhorn, Roggenburg was erected around 1126 as a daughter house of Ursberg (about 20 km east of Roggenburg). Originally erected in the Romanesque style, it is now an excellent example of the high Baroque or Rococco.  It was elevated to the status of abbey in 1444, suppressed in 1802 and restored in 1986 as a dependency of the abbey of Windberg. It was elevated to the status of a Priory November 8, 1992.
