Monasticon Praemonstratense (III, 207)

Approximate modern location: In France, very near the border with Spain, in a village called "Santiago" which is close to the city of Irun, Spain and Hendaye, France at the elbow of the Bay of Biscay.

Elm-Number [See below]: None.*

Other Comments: For a while our Order administered a hospital here.  Houses known locally as "Prioria" and "Insula Hospitalis" both survive.  The largest island in the river Bidasoa is Santiago Aurrea, and across the Spanish border in Irun, there is a Calle Santiago.
