Other Comments: Founded -- according to tradition -- by Eskill Archbishop of Lund. In its construction and maintenance, major support was received by the Bishops of Oslo. It was suppressed in 1532, and in 1536 it burned.
Magnificent ruins survive, including portions of the cloister in a portion of the municipal library. The church has been incorporated into the Municipal church of Tønsberg, across the street from the library. The circular style of this church is unique among romanesque buildings.
