Laon Cathedral, France

. . . THIS MAY TAKE A MOMENT OR TWO . . .

The choir area.  Laon is not a particularly large cathedral, nor does it portray the pinnacle of gothic style (though it was used as a model for Reims).  It is, however, the episcopal seat of Premontre, and as such would have been known by St. Norbert.

The nave vaulting.

The nave looking west.

Rose window, west fascade.
Laon is a charming city set upon a hilltop.  Here is one of several city gates and the upper city wall.
